Since I was little, I was singing and playing all the songs my older siblings did. I started taking piano lessons in 3rd grade. Two years later, I started learning the violin. My music skills increased exponentially, and in 6th grade I could already play Jon Schmidt's song "Waterfall".
I played the violin in the Junior High's Concert Orchestra during 7th and 8th grade. The following year I played the piano in the school's elite Jazz Band instead of playing in the orchestra. It was something I had aspired to do since elementary school.
When high school started, I was able to return to the violin for the orchestra. However, the last two years of high school, I learned and played the cello. It took me only one month to learn it. I played the violin in the pit orchestra for the school's productions of "Les Miserables" and "The Pajama Game". I was asked to accompany my high school choirs on the piano several times, including the song that our Concert Choir sang at graduation. Also at graduation, I played the cello in a string quartet.
My senior year I was hired as a student piano teacher for Marie Harris (Sandy, Utah). Going on to college, I spent all my college semesters in the BYU Women's Chorus. I decided my second year of choir that I would graduate with a music minor. Thus, I took voice, violin, cello, and piano lessons. I tested out of the music theory class. I took the Basic Conducting class as well as Music History courses.
I was taught lessons by so many teachers that I have really combined everything they taught me to teach my students now.
In my free time, I enjoy composing and publishing music, playing sports, and spending time with my husband. I am also a proud violinist in the American Fork Symphony.
